ARGUS
Need
The Argus system was designed to help analysts identify clusters in large data sets, and see changes to those clusters over time. However, the original Argus interface provided no insight into the length and success of the clustering process. It also did not allow analysts to see the data set in the context of the thresholds used to define the clusters, or visualize the implications of adjusting those parameters.
Idea
Resilient Cognitive Solutions’ re-design of Argus interface provides Observability and Directability of the underlying clustering algorithm. Furthermore, attention directing visualizations were used to support the novelty detection component of Argus.
Benefit
The re-designed Argus interface supports effective teaming with automation by providing Observability and Directability of the underlying clustering algorithms. In addition, by representing novel data events using motion, our interface effectively direct the analyst’s attention to unexpected events.
