Human Resources Generalist

We are seeking a dedicated and self-directed Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The HR Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support across various functions, with a strong focus on US compliance, benefits administration, HRIS management, employee support, payroll and process improvement. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks while ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, and other relevant statutes.

  • Maintain and update company policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures.

Benefits Administration:

  • Assist with employee benefits programs, including health, dental, disability, and retirement plans.

  • Handle benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations while ensuring compliance with ACA and COBRA regulations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries and issues.

  • Coordinate with benefit providers to resolve escalated issues.

Employee Development and Employee Support:

  • Provide guidance to employees on HR policies, procedures, and benefits.

  • Address employee concerns in a timely and confidential manner.

  • Conduct onboarding for new hires and exit interviews for departing employees.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and ensure compliance with record-keeping requirements.

  • Support the performance review process.

Talent Acquisition and Recruiting Coordinator:

  • Lead coordination for recruiting efforts, including job posting, resume screening, and coordinating interviews.

  • Work with recruiting agencies and universities to aim recruiting strategies.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization in HR workflows.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team on special projects to strengthen company culture and operations.

General Administrative Tasks:

  • Assist in scheduling appointments for 3-4 executives and directors

  • Report to the directors for weekly updates, accomplishments, and any issues requiring attention.

  • Coordinate visits for existing and potential customers.

  • Coordinate team meetings and events and prepare agendas.

Front Office Management:

  • Manage daily administrative tasks, including welcoming visitors, receiving packages, and organizing documents.

  • Maintain office supplies and manage inventory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is preferred, or Associate’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • 2+ years of experience as an HR Generalist.

  • Strong knowledge of US employment laws and regulations.

  • Experience with benefits administration.

  • Proficiency in HRIS systems.

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Salary

$60,000 - $75,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications

Location

Hybrid (Pittsburgh, PA – 2 days in office for typical week)

Schedule

  • Full-Time, Monday through Friday

  • Core business hours of 10am-3pm Eastern
